How to add or change a photo location on iPhone.

Use Apple Photos — no extra app needed

Open the photo, swipe up or tap the Info button, then choose Adjust beside the location.

Method 1

Add or change the location for one photo.

  1. Open the photo in Apple PhotosSwipe up or tap Info to reveal its date, camera details, and location.
  2. Choose Adjust beside the locationSearch for a place or move the map pin to the correct point.

No extra app is needed for this job.

Method 2

Set one known place for several photos.

In the Photos library, tap Select, choose the photos, open the More menu, and use Adjust Location. Every selected photo receives the same place.

Method 3

Match each camera photo along a trip.

When the photos are already in Apple Photos but each one belongs to a different point, a timeline can do the repetitive work. LensPin compares each capture time with a GPX track or nearby geotagged iPhone photos.

Adding photo locations on iPhone

Can Apple Photos add a location without another app?

Yes. It can add or adjust a known location for one photo, and assign one shared place to a selected batch.

Can Apple Photos match different photos to a GPX track?

Apple Photos does not currently provide a GPX-by-time matching workflow for a camera-photo batch. A dedicated geotagging workflow is needed for that task.

Will a library location appear in an exported file?

Not in every export path. A Photos-library location and EXIF GPS inside an image file are related but separate. See the writeback guide.
