Public feedback, with context
What people report after trying LensPin.
These public Reddit comments describe camera-photo geotagging, the value of detailed matching controls, and practical limits around iCloud downloads and file export. This summary is maintained by LensPin’s developer; the original comments are linked so you can read them in context.

A large-batch report
About 2,000 camera photos geotagged.
“Got about 2K camera photos geotagged.”

The user said they had already tried the app. Their report supports that LensPin can be useful beyond a small walkthrough, but does not specify the reference source, processing time, accuracy, or how every saved location was checked. It is a personal report, not a measured success rate.
For your own batch, start with one trip, inspect the reference evidence, and check the saved locations in Apple Photos.
Controls and performance trade-offs
Detailed review can come with download costs.
In a comparison with Tagback, Mastodon6684 valued LensPin’s date-range selection, matching-time controls, camera information, process explanations, and album for reviewing updated photos. The same comment reported that LensPin was slower on a large batch when originals had to download from iCloud, and asked for a simpler date picker.
This is one user’s comparison, not a controlled speed benchmark. We have kept the criticism alongside the positive observations because download time and local storage can materially affect a large-library workflow.
LensPin may request originals to inspect camera and capture-time metadata. Try a shorter date range first; see iCloud Photos guidance. Check the current app’s date-selection controls rather than assuming an older comment describes every later version.
An export requirement
Library locations and portable file GPS are different.
Wellcraft19 highlighted that library location changes should not be assumed to follow original files into other services, and asked for original-format export after learning about LensPin’s JPG option.
Saving in LensPin updates the Apple Photos library location. For a photo copy with GPS embedded, use Export JPG with Include Location enabled. Non-JPG photos are converted, originals remain unchanged, and video GPS export is not supported. This does not meet a requirement to preserve RAW or another original file format while embedding GPS.
The developer’s Stanford walkthrough uses reconstructed timestamps and reference coordinates to demonstrate the workflow. Its 194 suggestions from 200 photos are not an accuracy study. The user reports above are separate self-reported experiences; they do not establish universal compatibility, performance, or accuracy.
